Fabrication of Spiral Low-Cost Microchannel with Trapezoidal Cross Section for Cell Separation Using a Grayscale Approach

Trapezoidal cross-sectional spiral microfluidic channels showed high resolution and throughput in cell separation bio-applications. The main challenges are the complexity cost of fabrication process trapezoidal on micro-scale. In this work, we present application grayscale channel design to overcome process. We also use direct engraving with a CO2 laser beam polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) material drastically reduce chip’s (to <30 cents) time 20 min). capability methodology for sorting applications is demonstrated through experimental tests white blood cells (WBCs) from whole at different dilution factors. results indicated that an 800 µL/min flow rate provided optimal efficiency using fabricated chip. A 90.14% 1% hematocrit diluted sample was reported.
